Toshiba Launches Satellite in Singapore

I just came back from the launch of the Satellite A200. Ok... its not a real satellite. No rockets needed for this launch.

Instead of a launch pad, I found myself walking into the Screening Room at Ann Siang Road. For those of you who have not been there, the building features a nice "cinema-like" room. The room kind of reminds me of GV Gold Class. To add to the whole movie experience, Toshiba gave out popcorn to the guests.

It was in this setting that the Satellite A200 was launched. The Satellite A200 boasts an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600, external 256MB video memory, up to 512MB HyperMemory, etc.

The main highlights of the Satellite A200 was its HD DVD drive and HDMI connectivity. The HD DVD drives allows for better visuals and better audio. And to top that up, the HDMI connector allows for easy connection to your HDTV as well as your AV receiver. This was demonstrated when Toshiba showed a segment of Bourne Supremacy using the HDMI connectivity. It really felt like I was in a cinema. The images were so clear and the sound was good.

Another cool function the Satellite A200 has is the Toshiba coder control. It allows you to watch movies with the director's commentaries at the same time. So as I was watching Bourne Supremacy, I could see how the shots were done and whether they were using special effects. Definitely a plus point for aspiring video producers.

The Satellite A200 will be out in the Singapore market in mid February. And it'd only cost you around $2699. So if you're looking for a good entertainment experience at an affordable price, you definitely should give the Satellite A200 a try.
